Job Description
The Supervisor, Special Projects will have the opportunity to work with Precyse on an exciting project through our contract with a leading hospital. This project will include full training in ICD-10 coding and the ability to start coding in ICD-10 a year before the rest of the industry!
The Supervisor, Special projects will supervise all facets of work product for the remote coding team assigned to the project. This includes overall management of staff including all facets of personnel management, monitoring of client deliverables, attention to educational deadlines, labor cost monitoring, assisting in technical enhancements as needed, coordination of training for new coders including client and coder set up and monitoring, development of workflow monitors and delegation, support of QA functions and reporting, facilitating client communications and managing daily operations. This position relies upon the support of management team as part of daily function.
Responsibilities:
Serves as direct supervisor of all colleagues placed on project
Interviews and places new colleagues into the appropriate work role
Coordinates all payroll functions, scheduling and day to day supervision of coding team
Serves in a liaison capacity between coding team and project manager
Acts upon QA results and works with QA team if progressive discipline is required
Assumes direct responsibility for daily workflow
Develops internal policies and procedures in coordination with client
Acts as trainer and subject matter expert on hospital processes and systems
Prepares weekly status reports as requested
Supports project manager in the preparation of client deliverables
Works closely with hospital and Precyse Information Technology, Talent Acquisition, Coding Managers and Quality Assurance Manager to ensure new colleagues are supported adequately during orientation
Acts as front line management support to Project Manager and Director, Remote Coding Operations
Serves as a second-level liaison to client, providing daily status reports, updates and other project critical information to all levels of management, both client and Precyse
Requirements
RHIT or RHIA and CCS required
5+ years of experience in HIM with strong emphasis in acute care hospital coding management in medium to large facilities
Required coding skills include inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, ED with evaluation/management, and prospective payment methodologies
Must possess the ability to learn and transition to the use of multiple hospital IT systems
Ability to create reports using MS Office as needed
Must possess excellent people management, operations and finance skills as well as strong time management skills to work in a virtual environment
