Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is within the Global Supply Chain team and reports to the Director of Global Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall quality of material commodities used in the battery manufacturing process for Aquion Energy. This person will be located at Aquion Energy?s Mt. Pleasant facility supporting both the Pittsburgh and Mt. Pleasant manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support supplier selection through the provision of a robust qualification processes.
Ensure product quality from suppliers and contract manufacturers meets company product quality specifications and objectives.
Develop and implement closed loop supplier corrective action plans and bring all related issues to closure.
Perform manufacturing process qualifications using standard statistical measuring techniques.
Monitor manufacturing process trends; identify and take corrective action prior to the production of nonconforming product
Validate and approve manufacturing process changes
Provide technical support to Purchasing for second source, end of life component replacement, and cost reduction activities.
Work effectively with suppliers, purchasing and engineering in support of the implementation of supplier/engineering changes and new product introductions.
Specify, develop, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment.
Provide advanced Quality Engineering of new product introduction involving new processes or advanced automated equipment.
Provide comprehensive and meaningful metrics reporting to Management utilizing effective presentation skills.
Participate in the development of innovative solutions, approaches, methodologies that address present and future supply chain quality requirements.
Continuously improve the performance of the materials supply base by supporting the use of supplier management tools such as the supplier report card and commercial business reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in engineering with 5 years direct Supplier Quality experience.
Superior analytical skills are required to develop and work with process metrics measurements.
High level proficiency with MS Excel is required.
Solid project management experience with the ability to develop strong support for change.
Experience managing supplier quality and working with suppliers for value creation.
High level of diplomacy and a demonstrated comfort interacting with people at all levels within the company and external supplier organizations.
Experience and hands on investigation capabilities in establishing root cause and corrective action related to product or process defects are essential.
Build, execute, and track sourcing project plans designed to reduce costs or improve availability.
Self-driven, results-oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision.
Strong written/oral communication skills.
Travel 25% - 40%
Other Desired Skills and Abilities:
Six Sigma/Lean Certification desired
Familiar with common materials characterization techniques.
Familiar with energy technologies and electrochemically functional devices.
Ability to work with others/function as part of a team and maintains good working relationships with other departments; customer oriented.
Ability to function well under pressure. Organized and able to attain results on several projects simultaneously.
Willingness and ability to assume increased responsibility.
Flexible to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
Action/results oriented; self-starter.
Experience with ISO9001 quality standards.
International supplier experience is a plus.
