Supply Chain Assistant
Abcam is a world-leading provider of protein detection reagents with our corporate office in Cambridge, UK. We also have offices in the US, Japan and China. We are seeking a talented, self-motivated and enthusiastic Supply Chain Assistant to join our Supply Chain team in our Cambridge, MA office.
Primary responsibilities include: ordering and maintaining purchase orders using our automated systems, resolving delivery issues by contacting suppliers (these can be complex issues) and liaising with other departments to achieve improved overall efficiency of Supply Chain.
To order stock from suppliers according to company need and track delivery, manage supplier correspondence and troubleshoot supply and delivery issues as well as working with suppliers to keep late deliveries to a minimum. To facilitate short customer lead-times by dealing with Customs issues and import/export permits.
Order stock from suppliers to fulfill customer orders and inventory needs
Process order confirmations from suppliers and liaise with other departments, where necessary, to resolve queries
Track inventory of shipments and address any U. S. Customs delays
Follow-up with suppliers on overdue inventory
Manage stock and delivery issues quickly, efficiently and professionally
Use internal databases and MS Excel to compile various reports around areas such as backorder management
Fill out and update all internal databases and forms
Apply for import and export licenses
Assist in other areas of the business when necessary
Summary of Job Requirements:
Minimum: high school diploma and 2 years of relevant work experience
Recent college graduate with interest in Supply Chain preferred
Prior experience working in an office environment for 1-2 years is highly-desirable
Purchasing, logistics or supply chain experience is preferred
Very strong interpersonal skills, especially ability to communicate externally with suppliers and internally with colleagues -- both locally and overseas
Blend of independence and the ability to be autonomous and make decisions where appropriate is essential
Exemplary organizational skills, with the ability to time manage, prioritize and solve problems
Must demonstrate attention-to-detail
Should possess strong MS Excel skills
