Harmonic seeks a Senior Supply Chain Manager/Director who will make a tangible impact on enhancing the company's leadership in time to market, excellence in delivery and quality, and long-term product performance.
The individual will be responsible for EMS and procurement supply chain operations for programs managed out of Harmonic's corporate facility. This includes several business lines, multiple technologies and low to high tier level suppliers. Program oversight will range between $150M and $200M annually. Products will include established, industry-leading CATV systems, video storage systems, video streaming and network management appliances in our Digital Video, Cable Edge/Access, and Mobile/Web line of products.
This is a visible leadership position with heavy focus on delivering with high reliability into the specific needs of the video industry and with excellent margins for Harmonic. This individual will meet directly with R&D teams, suppliers, and potentially customers to articulate Harmonic's vision and programs in quality delivery. A particular challenge here is to manage change, product introductions and meet operational goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement best practices in the area of technical project management, risk management, cost benchmarking, contract administration and negotiation.
• Establish a clear leadership presence across all involved organizations as the authoritative figure on EMS supply capabilities, strategy, execution, priorities, and standards of performance.
• Champion cross functional teams to optimize supply chain order fulfillment solution architecture in support targeted business metrics.
• Identify and minimize risk to the business through contingent plans and escalation program.
• Provide effective, efficient & timely communication of essential operational information to enhance use of advance planning and business analytics tools.
• Administer the primary contract manufacturing partner relationships which include quarterly re-pricing process, buy up/down process with supplier, claims management, standard costing, QBRs and contract compliance.
• Work with Commodity Management to leverage supplier cost reduction programs.
• Lead transition programs such as NPI, ECN, product transfer, ramp up/down, & EOL.
• This person will drive for high-quality supplier performance standards to minimize internal quality system costs and allow for supply base consolidation.
• Deploy tracking mechanisms which give simple readings of project and supplier progress and quickly pinpoint problem areas.
• Influence product leadership teams, to ensure that quality, manufacturability, and margins are designed in early.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
• Leadership experience in management of global external manufacturing partners, planning, product transitions and operations for complex communications industry products.
• Excellent technical understanding to facilitate issue resolution, product change management, cost reduction and optimal use of IT technology.
• Track record of successful introduction and ramp up of new products into an outsourced supplier model using creative techniques to speed time to market.
• Procurement experience with OEM, ODM, and component supply chain. Solid experience with outsourced manufacturing involving a network of suppliers.
• A person with strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation and contracting skills as well as a keen business acumen and an ability to support sound judgments with data.
• Experience in deploying and managing a formal quality supplier management program and company compliance policies.
• Experience in developing processes, IT tools, training and deployment of continuous improvement programs. Understanding and familiarity of Supply Chain business systems is essential.
• Proven performance in all aspects of product cost management including technical commodities, value added services, and ROI analysis.
• Competence in guiding product developers to understand commodity and sourcing solutions that will benefit the manufacturability and reliability issues and the implications of design decisions.
• Experience with the manufacturing of complex configurable hardware systems.
