Support Engineer OwnCloud
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED ownCloud, the leader in secure enterprise file sync and share software, is seeking a Support Engineer to complement the existing team in Boston. ownCloud is a rapidly growing early-stage company funded by the leading venture capitalists in Boston, with the world?s first data access engine targeting a $3B dollar market opportunity.
As a Support Engineer, you will be responsible for working directly with our customers to provide high quality technical support in all stages of ownCloud deployment. When not working directly with our customers, you may also work on documentation or programming tasks as appropriate. We are interested in candidates that have a creative problem solving streak, and who work well as part of a global team. You can expect to work out of offices in the Boston area, and you may be needed to take on-call support shifts at various times throughout the year.

We are seeking highly motivated, technically strong candidates, capable of working independently and interacting with customers directly. Client facing skills, written and verbal skills, and excellent phone manner are critical. Knowledge of PHP, web applications and databases is also necessary. Candidate will be asked to:
Take ownership of support issues with our customers and see them through to resolution
Work with the customer to identify the issue and provide supporting information
Repeat the issue in an ownCloud environment
Work with the engineering team to reproduce the issue and resolve it
Communicate with customers throughout the process
Resolving customer complaints without the need to escalate issues
Document troubleshooting tips, FAQs and work arounds
Serve as an expert on the practical installation of the ownCloud product as needed
Work with the ownCloud community to identify and resolve product issues
Be highly motivated and self-driven to do the right thing for the customer and ensure customer success and technical acceptance
Proven track record as a support engineer in enterprise software
Demonstrated acumen working directly with technical customers to install, configure or troubleshoot customer issues remotely over the phone
Experience with PHP in scalable production applications, and integrating PHP with MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle
Self-motivated, self-starter, work well alone without constant supervision. Proactive.
Bachelors Degree in related field
Must be located in the Boston Area (ownCloud office is in Lexington, MA)
