We are seeking a Sustaining Hardware Technician III for our Pittsburgh, PA location.
The Sustaining Engineering group collaborates closely with the Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering groups, Product Management, and Operations to improve Talkman wearable computer products, headsets, and accessories. We are seeking a high-level technician to focus on ensuring that the products we design and develop meet all performance requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical hardware skills, moderate mechanical skills, and an aptitude for broader product development activities. The candidate should also have good communication skills, be highly organized, flexible, and able to accommodate a large varied workload. Exposure to a fast-paced development environment and a wide variety of projects will provide an avenue for professional growth.
?Assist in the root-cause investigation of product issues
?Design and build experimental test fixtures to evaluate performance of components and devices.
?Perform and document engineering tests, including the use of standard test methods.
?Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify mechanical and electronic test equipment required for testing.
?Assemble experimental circuitry as directed.
?Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify designs and record effects on unit performance.
?Communicate with vendors to arrange necessary supply of equipment, materials, and components.
?Present experimental results and findings to cross-functional groups.
?Maintain a safe and clean workplace. Ensure that required lab supplies are on hand and equipment is properly maintained, thus providing uninterrupted work flow.
?Associate?s Degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical or Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
?Minimum of eight (8) years of directly related electrical hardware technician experience.
?Experience conducting and documenting laboratory experiments.
?Experience interfacing with external vendors.
?Experience with design or integration of mobile or wearable devices in rugged environments a strong plus.
?Hands-on experience with as many of the following technologies as possible:
oAssembly, test, and support of portable, rechargeable, and RF electronic devices containing digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuitry
oComputer programming skills, such as LabVIEW
oMicrosoft Office project management and documentation tools
oCAD systems ? OrCAD, Solid Works and/or Pro/E strongly preferred
oPneumatic devices and related control systems
?Experience with HALT and HASS testing is a plus
?Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
?Good computer skills are required with competency in word processing and spreadsheet programs, (MS Office), for writing reports and summarizing data.
?Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
?Strong oral and written communication skills.
?Ability to apply logical thinking and scientific method to solve hardware problems.
?Ability to execute several projects at once without supervision.
?Ability to modify and repair electronic circuits: hand soldering, wire routing, etc per IPC Standards a plus
?Some travel (up to 5%) may be necessary.
?English language fluency required.
