The Sustaining Manufacturing Engineer reports directly to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and will provide support around resolving design related manufacturing issues, supporting cost reduction efforts while working with a procurement team, improving supplier quality, and implementing design changes required for both regulatory certification compliance and marketing driven product improvements and upgrades. The sustaining engineer will have expertise in a wide range of mechanical and electrical design and manufacturing technologies, along with computer and ERP management control systems.
Will have the primary mechanical and electro-mechanical product engineering support for products currently being manufactured.
Directs the drafting and documentation activities, including design validation, risk analysis and reviews of designs and tests
Investigates & resolves design related issues affecting the manufacturing or quality of the products being produced
Interfaces with Design Engineering for system architecture, electronic / mechanical subsystems, regulatory certification compliance, user interface and software systems.
Works with regulatory certification and FAA bodies to ensure that safety, quality and design standards are met
Leads Engineering resolution of customer reported product problems
Interfaces with Product Line Management and Marketing
Defines test requirements and interpret test results.
Presents and/or participates in design reviews of new and improved products
Collaborates with cross functional teams during new product development and provide producability input as needed
Remains current in new manufacturing technologies, techniques and equipment
Minimum 5 years? experience in manufacturing / sustaining engineering with a demonstrated record of achievement in sustaining or product engineering
BS in Engineering with direct work experience. Applicable specializations include: Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, and Mechatronics
Self-sufficient and self-directed, team oriented, ?continuous improvement? focused and can drive change successfully
Experience with assembly, integration and testing of complex electro-mechanical devices and precision analytical process instrumentation
Experience with DOD / FAA technical and documentation requirements
Strong ISO 9001:2008 manufacturing background a must
Well organized, enthusiastic and possess a strong work ethic
Experience in MS Word, EXCEL, and Crystal Reports and Solid Works CAD software.
Highly developed written and verbal skills
Ability to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication
