As an integral member of our IT department, this position assists company employees with technical support, including specifying, installing, documenting and testing computer systems and peripherals. This is a technical AND people-oriented position, with lots of interaction with all levels of the organization (and those in remote locations). Other duties include things like assisting with maintenance and testing of network servers, diagnosing and resolving unique or recurring problems...in general, approaching situations and customers with a "problem-solving mind" is what we're seeking.
Responds to support calls or emails from internal users. Maintain all support requests in a ticket tracking system.
Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usage of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
Works with other IT staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients.
Interacts with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment.
Trains and orients internal users on use of hardware and software.
Recommends and/or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.
Works with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software.
Orders computer supplies.
Performs equipment moves, changes and additional service for telephones.
Administers the wireless devices as well as the contracts, warranties and insurance.
Assists in maintaining LAN/WAN records and, as appropriate, telephone systems records.
Key Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Associate Degree in technology or must have A+ certification, Network+, Microsoft and/or other vendor certifications.
Superb customer service and interpersonal skills and experience required.
6 months experience supporting Microsoft Windows 7/Windows 8 desktop & laptop computers for local and remote users in a corporate environment.
Mac and Linux experience a plus.
Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs.
Must have an extensive working knowledge of standard desktop software such as operating systems, system utilities, security, web browser, email, antivirus, and office productivity software.
Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops and Laptops.
Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems.
Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure while meeting project deadlines.
Must have an appreciation for and an ability to produce and maintain quality documentation with an exceptional level of attention to detail.
Must be self-starting and able to maintain a high level of organization.
