Summary:
Looking for a great system administrator that enjoys keeping the engines humming - performs system administration functions on various aspects of the computing infrastructure supporting internal end-users, corporate data center (including development and testing environments) and the production facility. Our computing environment is multiOS with Windows, Macs and Linux/Unix in the mix.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of system administration duties on Microsoft based servers, applications, and other servers including install, debug, maintain, upgrade, and general support.
Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the server infrastructure.
Proactive monitoring of all servers, applications and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's.
Support hosted Exchange/ Outlook email environment.
Perform regular and on-demand system backups, recovery and validation.
Ensure regular log file maintenance.
Support centralized A/V environment including configuration and upgrades.
Assist in developing, implementing, testing and maintaining server level disaster recovery plans.
Perform deployment of code releases to Test and Production servers. .
Collect and report system data for capacity and planning purposes.
Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of IT infrastructure.
Assist in managing and troubleshooting networks, intranet & internet connectivity throughout the organization, including basic knowledge of firewalls.
Follow documented procedures on Linux systems for selected trained tasks.
Work with IT team members to support thin client environment.
Participate in on call rotation to support both internal and production requirements.
New employee provisioning including computer setup, account creation and phone configuration.
Work closely with the IT team to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies.
Write scripts to make repetitive tasks more efficient.
Research, evaluate and recommend system technologies to support business requirements.
Maintain internal asset inventory information.
Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
Coordinate with the rest of the IT team to meet the team objectives.
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Minimum 2-3 years experience in Systems Administration.
At least 2-3 years experience with Hardware & Networking.
Basic knowledge of Client VPN technologies and client certificates.
Advanced knowledge of installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Windows 7 operating systems.
Experience with Mac OS and ability to support Mac laptops.
Strong End User desktop and application support, including Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010.
Advanced knowledge of installations, upgrades and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2003 /2008 & Web Application Servers.
Experience with Active Directory and configuration of Domain controllers required, preferably in a multi-site environment.
Strong ability to configure and support fileservers (including proper security settings), printers and FAX (including the installation drivers on all platforms) and oversight of backups.
Ability to support outsourced Exchange, OWA, and Outlook 2007.
Basic networking and firewall knowledge.
Ability to write scripts in PERL or Shell
Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
Strong ability to work within a production facility performing application deployments and configuration changes. Experience JBoss highly desirable; knowledge of IIS optional
Knowledge of Mobile phones and Cisco VOIP a plus.
Ability to effectively and routinely communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
