WideOrbit is seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer based in San Francisco. As a Technical Solutions Engineer, you will learn the nuts and bolts of our WideOrbit products and work towards becoming a go-to expert for server, database, and application set up. We?re looking for someone that likes to learn new things, talk to clients, get involved in a variety of tasks, and work independently.
Here?s what you?ll be doing:
Perform specific jobs related to WideOrbit?s applications such as installing and migrating servers, configuring SQL, reviewing server configurations, and responding to customer questions and issues.
Handle support tickets related to customer server infrastructure (servers, databases, workstations, networks, and VPNs).
Help support the remote access systems used by WideOrbit product support to connect to client sites.
Here?s what we?re looking for:
The ideal person for this role will have a varied IT background and be proficient in troubleshooting and supporting customers by phone, email, and with remote access tools. Other specific requirements include:
BA in Computer Science, MCSE, CCNA, SQL certification, or equivalent experience
Ability and willingness to have a flexible and changing schedule which would include working a ?late? shift to cover evening hours, plus some weekend work.
Minimum of 3+ years in a hands-on IT role with at least 2+ years in a technical support/helpdesk role
2+ year hands-on Microsoft SQL Server experience
Familiarity with Windows 2000/2003/2008 servers, Windows networking, Active Directory, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, LAN, WAN, and other common networking concepts and practices
Experience with remote access and support tools such as Remote Desktop, SimpleHelp, LogMeIn, etc. as well as VPN client setup and administration
Experience with MS Web Platform Server IIS, Terminal Server, Citrix and virtual server environments such as Hyper-V or VMWare are required
Someone who enjoys working with people and solving end user problems
Ability to manage and prioritize IT projects with limited supervision
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment with a calm, professional demeanor
The preferred location for this position is San Francisco, but Dallas, Agawam or Hoover could be considered.
