The System Engineer ? UltraXRM is responsible for developing and supporting the UltraXRM high-resolution 3D x-ray microscope products and customers in both Synchrotron and Laboratory environments.
Primary responsibilities include product development, testing, installation and support for new and existing UltraXRM microscope products. Applicant should be experienced with high resolution microscopy, supporting and developing capitol equipment and enjoy high technology and travel.
System Engineer UltraXRM will report to the Manager of UltraXRM Engineering.
The System Engineer UltraXRM is Expected to:
Perform system level development of Xradia's high resolution 3D tomography x-ray microscope products, with focus on the synchrotron product line.
Design, testing, debug and documentation for release to manufacturing.
Perform system level design, testing, debug and documentation for release to manufacturing.
Perform mechanical and electrical design tasks with team members in a concurrent engineering fashion.
Perform and supervise in-house system assembly, testing and preparation for shipment
Perform on-site installation, commissioning, testing and service
Customer training and assistance in system operation
Create documentation of theory of operation, design concepts and develop system level performance requirements.
Contribute to plan development and Gantt charts to manage projects from inception to delivery.
Hands-on technical problem solving is a key responsibility in this position.
Contribute to internal and customer facing procedures, user manuals, release notes, application notes.
Occasionally attend or present at technical conferences and customer events
Required Experience and Knowledge:
B.S. or M.S. or PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
Minimum 1 years of experience developing microscopy or metrology capital equipment.
Position requires up to 70% travel for customer visits and system installations.
Experience with software tools to control hardware, as well as means for data analysis and presentation.
Demonstrated understanding of science and engineering principles and processes.
Ability to design and perform proof of principle experiments
Computer data acquisition and numeric data analysis skills
Proficiency with common high-tech instrumentation and diagnostic tools.
Strong general laboratory skills and trouble shooting of complex electromechanical systems.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, collaboration skills.
Ability to explain complex design issues, design patterns, and new technology to team members.
Strong customer-facing skills and strong desire to understand end-user applications.
Ability to work effectively in and contribute to a team environment.
Ability to handle the fast-paced, ever-changing demands of a growing high-tech company.
Experience with synchrotron and/or high resolution imaging instrumentation is highly desired
