FireEye, Inc. has an opening in its Milpitas, California office for a System QA Security Engineer.
Responsibilities:
This position requires knowledge of network security and deep packet inspection techniques to deliver the FireEye security solution. Previous experience may come from vulnerability studies, anti-virus/spyware testing, malware-analysis, networking/system administration, or software development experience. This person will develop test scenarios for the FireEye security appliance, build the required test infrastructure, and perform the test execution. Testing includes traffic replay for HTTP and SMTP to detect malicious attached binaries, embedded malicious URLs, infected machines, malicious call backs to botnets, false positive/ false negative reports, and signature performance profiles for detection rules. You will work with the team to develop manual and automated test cases using scripts and tools. You will identify potential product issues and champion their successful resolution.
The candidate will test and profile malware signatures to ensure accurate and consistent functionality with respect to setup and configuration. Candidate will also develop and run test procedures and automation scripts. The QA Engineer must have the ability to reproduce and isolate faults, and perform root cause investigation for bug analysis. The engineer should also have a strong understanding of false positives and false negatives.
Requirements:
At least 2 years direct or equivalent experience in areas of anti-virus, intrusion detection, deep packet inspection, firewall/UTM, vulnerability testing, malware-analysis, or security networking/system administration
Experience using network security and prevention tools (e.g. IDS/IPS, wireshark, metasploit, SNORT, tcpdump, etc.)
Must have knowledge in at least one area of these key IT technologies:
HTTP Web Servers or SMTP Mail Servers
Highly desirable:
Competent skills configuring Windows services and testing anti-virus or firewall software
SNORT signature experience or equivalent is highly desirable
Regex experience
Reporting on vulnerability remediation efforts and exceptions
Experience in a scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl, etc.)
Must well work in a demanding, fast paced team environment
Bachelor?s degree or the foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
