Job Description
Silver Spring Networks is hiring for the position of System Test Engineer with reliability test experience at our Redwood City California office.

Position Objective:
In this role, you will execute the qualification test strategy for Silver Spring Networks for specific SSN products.. Working with the Development Engineers and Manufacturing Test Engineers, you will establish and implement an executable qualification plan including reliability tests. Develop and document the necessary test methods and procedures to ensure full test coverage of all SSN components and products.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with design teams to understand new project architectures and requirements and subsequently be able to validate the quality of the test script to be used during the reliability tests.
Have hands-on electro-mechanical and electronic experience, including component level troubleshooting & repair experience, fluency reading schematics and block diagrams, and rudimentary s/w code debug (batch files, scripts, python, c, etc.)
Conceive, develop & execute RF System Reliability Test qualification test plans and test procedures for Silver Spring Network Wireless Mesh Access Points and End Points.
Identify, analyze and initiate corrective actions when RF system reliability test failures, RF system manufacturing test failures, RF system field failures (RMA) occur
Cooperate on opportunities for hardware and firmware testing and qualification.
Familiarity with bench test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power supplies is a must. Preferably to have bench test experience with network analyzers and spectrum analyzer.
Write RF System Reliability Test Plans, execute RF System Reliability Test Plans, debug RF System Reliability Test Setups, and write test reports.
Required Experience
Technical Degree (BSEE, BSCS, Physics, Industrial Engineering, other) with both embedded and analog/digital electronics experience
5 - 10 years? experience as an RF System Test Engineer in a wireless, telecom, network systems manufacturing & development environment (900 MHz and 2.4 GHz)
Understanding of both RF systems manufacturing methods and RF system test methods.
Familiarity with documentation required for manufacturing assembly & test of RF systems, particularly BOMs, Schematics, Block Diagrams, Release Notes, System Requirement Documents, Assembly Instructions, Mfg Test Instructions.
Ability to work independently on testing & diagnosis of system failures down to the board level and component level product, including test, debug and repair. Work with Design Engineers to resolve issues with reliability test results.
Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal & written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a variety of locations (office, external labs, customer sites, contract manufacturers)
Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux) both GUI and Command Line
Familiarity with various programming languages (LabVIEW, C/C++/C#, Excel VBA, Python, Scripting, HTML/XML, scripts, batch files)
Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools (ping, ipconfig, tracert)
Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
