Author Solutions is seeking a Systems Accountant with strong experience in Great Plains/MS Dynamics for our corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Indiana.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the monthly activity and maintenance of the general ledger, including consolidating ledgers, producing financial statements and generating trial balances. This position is largely responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger structure and reporting from the system, which will include creating reports within the system. The successful candidate will have significant experience in Great Plains/MS Dynamics and specifically FRx/Management Reporter, and also be familiar with additional software programs such as Microsoft Excel and others as needed. Other responsibilities include analyzing systems and methods to ensure effectiveness, identifying and recommending improvement and/or change, as well as performing other financial functions on an as-needed basis, ensuring the integrity of the company?s financial information.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the monthly activities and maintenance of the general ledger. This includes, but not limited to, creation of new chart of accounts, ledgers and product IDs.
Analyze systems and methods to ensure effectiveness and identify/make recommendations for improvement and/or change.
This position is responsible for the maintenance of the reporting software including consolidated reports and schedules with additional coding, if necessary.
Ensures integrity of financial information/ general ledger/accounts.
Identifies areas for improvement/change.
Prepares detailed analysis and gives recommendation on GL structure and reports to Corporate Manager of Accounting.
Will ensure effective systems and controls are in place.
Will ensure timelines are met.
Will complete additional analysis as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Has access to highly confidential financial data with respect to company financial information. Improper disclosure could result in serious damage to company operations or expose company to lawsuits.
Decisions and Actions (complexity/latitude/timeliness/impact):
Prioritizes tasks and primary duties within scope of position. Primary duties should be completed daily. Analytical ability to define problems or opportunities, devises solutions, and lead implementation of solutions. Job duties require timeliness and accuracy in terms of completion in order to comply with financial accounting standards and company policies. Failure to comply with legal and regulatory requirements can result in fines, legal action, or other negative economic impact to company.
Indirect Reports/Functional Guidance provided (employees/work groups):
Interaction with the executive and leadership team.
Daily interaction with employees and managers.
Bachelor degree in accounting required
Must have at least five years experience.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Great Plains/MS Dynamics applications and will be familiar with additional software programs as required.
Experience with Excel and Accounting Software required.
Experience with Great Plains/MS Dynamics and FRx.
Minimum Skills Required
Superior knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail
Pragmatically orientation with an organized and systematic approach to work
Strong analytical and statistical skills
The Great Plains/MS Dynamics System Specialist reports to the Assistant Controller/Corporate Manager of Accounting. The core work schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with frequent flexibility for start and ending times. Additional hours and/or overtime may be required depending on position and needs of the business. Travel may also be required based on the business need.
