Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission. The company is privately held, with 71 employees located in offices in Dallas, Texas and
Wellesley, Massachusetts. Placemark develops, implements, and supports wealth solutions, including
Unified Managed Account platforms and retirement solutions for broker/dealers, registered investment
advisors, banks, and family offices. As the separate account industry?s leading independent overlay
portfolio manager, Placemark coordinates multiple investment vehicles such as separately managed
accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs into a single customized UMA portfolio

In 2010 Placemark launched UMA Marketplace (UMAM), an open architecture web-based platform
that focuses on enabling efficient delivery of investment management strategies and products to the
independent advisor community. The early success of the initiative has resulted in a decision to expand
the resources Placemark is investing in UMA Marketplace. The Marketing Specialist will work closely
with managers, strategists and ETF manufacturers in UMAM to help them leverage the platform
resources to build their distribution. These managers will fall into one of two groups: Those with whom
Placemark has entered into a strategic co-marketing relationship and all others. The Marketing
Specialist will assist all managers in using UMAM advisor information to expand distribution of their
product. The Marketing Specialist will provide additional services and support to Placemark comarketing partners, participating in and leading join marketing and promotions activities including
coordination of calling campaigns, web meetings/presentations, development of marketing collateral,
etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration,
operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This
individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the
infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and
related infrastructure are continually up and running, and that system-wide backups and monitoring are
accurate and complete. Responsibilities include:
? Life cycle maintenance of systems.
? Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
? Provide restores from backups when requested.
? Proactively check backup health and completeness.
? Proactively monitor and respond to system wide health.
? Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
? Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware
or software requirements related to such changes.
? Respond to system outages.
? Install and configure new hardware and software.
? Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
? Troubleshoot problems, both hardware and software, with systems.
? Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
? Add, remove, or update user account information, reset passwords, etc.
? Integrate new tools into existing monitoring and IDS.
? Audit security scans.
? Perform routine audits of systems and software.
? Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little
advanced notice.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
? Shell scripting familiarity
? Linux background
? Must be able to configure both Linux and Windows bare-metal machines from scratch
? Strong hardware troubleshooting skills
? Familiarity with RAID concepts
? Familiarity with Nagios Monitoring
? Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting
? Familiarity with command line tools
? Cisco ASA experience recommended
? Citrix Netscaler experience recommended
