The Systems Administrator is a versatile position, which is an integral position of a larger team of IT professionals delivering medical/clinical services to hospitals nationwide. Most of these services require ?24x7? availability, therefore commensurate support is required. The core group?s specific deliverables are design and engineering of systems (hardware and operating system) based on collected criteria, collaborate on application integration, administration, problem management, preventive maintenance, performance tuning, assist with capacity planning, all within best practice standards.
The Systems Administrator?s specific deliverables are system specification, design, engineering, implementation and ongoing performance management and capacity planning of enterprise systems servers and network electronics. The incumbent will collaborate with the applications team on application integration; ensuring Cogent Healthcare policy as well as IT standards are followed within reason. The incumbent will be required to have, at a minimum, level 2 skills (technical scale of 1 to 4) in the area of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows server with Active Directory administration and support. Additionally, staff is required to command expert proficiency on one or more tools that provide system services such as storage management, high-availability and performance management. Duties include, but are not limited to, daily operations management, performance management, configuration management, change/maintenance management and problem management of the HP, VMware and Microsoft Windows Server platform.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Four year College Degree with major in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience
4+ years Information technology experience, preferably within a healthcare environment
2+ years VMware ESX / vSphere experience
3+ years experience implementing and managing Windows 2003 / 2008 Server environments with Active Directory
2+ years managing Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 environments
1+ years EMC storage management experience
1+ years Citrix (XenApp, XenDesktop, Netscaler)

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Server Administration
Responsible for the daily administration of Cogent HMG?s server environment, including but not limited to VMware vSphere 5, Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Servers with Active Directory & DFS, Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010, IIS, SQL, SharePoint, CRM and Citrix (XenApp, XenDesktop, and Netscaler) services and platforms. In total, Cogent has over 150+ virtual production servers running a variety of web applications. Responsibilities include:
Scope of activity includes all Cogent Windows servers and management services including backup, VMware and server operating system upgrades, and patches; capability of performing OS rollouts as required
Alert notifications to designated Cogent personnel in the event of failure and provide on-call Tier 2/3 support
Perform daily full and incremental backups, including daily reporting of backup results and ability to fully restore servers if required
Complete monitoring of CPU utilization, disk I/O, disk capacity, etc., with reporting when specified thresholds are reached; Cogent to have access to monitors or the ability to monitor via remotely at all times
Server performance and capacity management services, including trend analysis reports
Configuration management, including changes, upgrades, patches, etc.
Network service application support, including Exchange, DNS/DHCP, IIS, etc.
Daily storage management
Server engineering services, including hardware and software configuration, design, installation, and documentation
Procedures maintenance
Hardware maintenance
Change control methodologies and communications plans, preferably using ITIL standards.
Management of Citrix environment
Leadership
Provides technical leadership for enterprise information technology efforts, including enterprise application project. Utilizes project plans for significant IT development, enhancement and maintenance efforts. Communicates regularly with internal and external customers. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Network Management and Monitoring
Responsible for proactively monitoring, identify, escalate and resolve all problems encountered with the enterprise server environment at Cogent. Responsibilities include implementation and support of various network environment including:
Up/down status of identified network elements via either on-site or remote equipment
Alert notifications to designated Cogent personnel and provide on-call Tier 3 support
Change control methodologies and communications plans
Assists with diagnosis of network technology issues including utilization and deployment
Baseline performance analysis and utilization reports
Installation and maintenance of Cat5 cable, fiber, jacks, patch panels and wiring modifications
Management and security of wireless environments
Backup and Recovery
Responsible for the continued management of backup/recovery strategy, testing and implementation for all of Cogent?s enterprise servers and storage platforms. Backup includes core information systems applications and data and also end-user data backup strategy and implementation.
Maintaining a minimum down-time backup strategy for critical services & maintaining current backups of all significant or designated elements
Review of backup procedures (daily, weekly, monthly rotations) and off-site storage rotation and provide input for improvement.
Automate maintenance tasks by using alerts and agents
Schedule backup events for both Windows Servers and SQL 2005 Standard.
Mobile Management
Research and master all mobile devices in product line with regard to hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and modifications
Maintain existing mobility environment
Assist and maintain CRM Mobility configuration
Management using MobileIron
E-Mail Administration
E-mail and public folder archiving, to keep e-mail growth in check using Symantec Enterprise Vault (ExMerge experience a plus)
Recover lost, deleted or corrupted mail within Exchange
Backing up Exchange using Veritas NetBackup
Maintain and continually improve web access of Exchange accounts using Outlook Web Access and Exchange ActiveSync
Manage outsourced Microsoft SPAM and virus filtering services
Manage internal SPAM Appliance (Barracuda)
Manage Internal Zix Appliance and external Zix securemail portal
Leverage Barracuda and Zix appliance for secure email between customers and vendors using TLS
Manage Symantec Enterprise Vault application for email archiving and retention
Standards and Documentation
Responsible for the development and publication of all documentation, including but not limited to server architecture, network drawings, naming conventions, configuration settings, backup and recovery procedures. Documentation may consist of logical and physical diagrams, specification sheets, procedure manual, training materials or other forms of documentation.
End-User Support
The Systems Administrator position is also required to participate as overflow for the corporate helpdesk. End-user support to our clients and internal customers is a critical element of Cogent HMG?s service model. Support functions include:
Establishes and adheres to internal and external customer service level agreements
Develops and implements Helpdesk industry best practices for customer interaction, response times, escalation procedures, resolution, customer feedback/ survey of helpdesk performance
Performs breakfix of software and hardware based workstation and laptop problems
Provides end-user support of all enterprise applications and Microsoft Office suite of applications
Configures and maintains corporate telephone systems and voicemail systems
Maintains IT assets inventory and other related hardware inventory
Responsible for IT hardware and software procurement, purchase orders, and product research
Maintains records with respect to software license compliance, license management
Responsible for coordination of support to Microsoft technical resources, Dell Computer technical resources and other contracted vendor
Other Duties
On occasion, tasks, general requests, project participation, and committee participation is required. These tasks fall into the general category of ?other duties as required.?
