The System Administrator II is an intermediate level position responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting problems areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and providing end-user assistance where required.
Responsibilities
Acquisition & Deployment
Conduct research on desktop products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Assist in the evaluation of products for purchase.
Develop written technical specifications for purchase of PCs, desktop hardware and related products.
Deploy workstations, printers, scanners in the corporate environment.
Deploy system patches and updates to workstations
Operational Management
Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding troubleshooting workstations, printers, and other mobile devices.
Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
Assist in developing and maintaining an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment.
Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
Manage end users accounts, permissions, and access rights
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Assess the need for and implement performance upgrade to workstations
Assist with the management of software and license management
Escalate troubleshooting issues when necessary
Position Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
High school diploma or GED required and 2+ years of relevant IT experience needed
Associates degree from a technical school or Bachelor?s degree preferred
Experience in a Windows XP/7 environment
Basic understanding of Windows Server 2003/2008
Proficiency with both using and maintaining MS Office suites
Experience with PC imaging and software
A+ certification is a plus but not required
Solid understanding of computer networking

Work Conditions
Participate in on call support rotation
Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
