We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Systems Administrator II -UNIX at our corporate office located in Atlanta, GA. (NOTE ? local candidates only, no relocation provided)
PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Systems Administrator II manages enterprise UNIX systems and supported business services. The role is primarily responsible for the availability and reliability of the infrastructure and business services supported on IBM AIX and RedHat systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities
Service Design and Transition
Designs AIX systems based upon best practices with repeatable standard configurations.
Designs Virtual Appliances and RedHat Unix systems based upon best practices with repeatable standard configurations
Designs processes and services with a focus on the long term and operational maintainability.
Configures robust solutions based upon business requirements to ensure reliability and availability of business services.
Tests changes prior to production implementation.
Documents system configurations.
Service Operations
Performs basic UNIX administration activities including security, disk administration, log management, networking.
Creates backup and recovery processes for production systems that meet or exceed recovery objectives.
Creates proactive monitoring services to capture and report availability and performance characteristics. Remediates server performance issues.
Automates system monitoring and notification processes.
Maintains configuration and releases internal software to production systems.
Applies software and security patches.
Adheres to Change Management and Release Management policy.
Project Support
Provides technical expertise and architectural guidance for UNIX based systems.
Estimates level of effort and creates action plans for project deliverables.
Meets project deliverables and documents solutions based upon project needs.
Communicates and transfers knowledge to peers and project team members.
Supports Software Development in project tasks and administration of development environments.
Business Support
Gains understanding of business services supported on production systems to provide operational support.
Communicates effectively with both IT and business users.
Interfaces with peer groups such as production control, database administration, and service desk/help desk for incident and problem management.
Other Related Responsibilities
Rotates in oncall duties providing off hours troubleshooting and support.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience configuring and managing enterprise SAN Storage preferred.
Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions preferred.
Demonstrable knowledge of all aspects of AIX/Unix administration including security, networking, backup and recovery, performance management/tuning, and system monitoring.
Administration of RedHat Enterprise Linux environments and application servers a plus.
Health plan operations experience desired.
Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information.
Ability to convert business requirements and project plans to actionable items.
Strong technical background in AIX and Unix based systems.
Service oriented.
Ability to work well independently with little supervision and in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree (or higher) preferred in computer science, management information science, electrical engineering, mathematics or related field required.
3-5 years experience in administration of enterprise-class AIX and other Unix based systems in production/operational environments.
3-5 years of experience in configuration and management of PowerVM, AIX LPAR and VIOS configurations.
3-5 years of experience managing AIX or Unix RDBMS servers - Oracle.
2-4 years of experience working with project or development teams to support infrastructure needs.
Advanced knowledge of PowerVM virtualization.
Excellent understanding of SAN and storage virtualization technologies.
JOB DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit and use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Must be in the office the majority of business hours.
Must be on-call for operational support on a rotating basis with the Systems Operations team.
Some after- hours/weekend work required when necessary to meet client or project deliverables.
Travel is not required for the position; however, some travel for training or client support might arise.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs without assistance
KEY CONSTITUENTS:
Primary interaction with systems operations staff including Oracle Database administration, AIX administration, RHEL Administration, Production Control, Service Desk personnel and Software Development Staff.
Interfaces with internal business users for managed IT services.
Active participant in IT Operations, IT Software Development, and IT Project groups (as assigned).
