Summary
This position is primarily responsible for providing systems operational support, documentation, administration, installation, archives, disaster recovery, and maintenance for key GCA systems (multiple platforms including Unix). Participates in the development, specification and communication of the corporate architecture plan and ensures individual projects support business strategy. Responsible for system backups and archive procedures, equipment, implementation, recovery, and planning for key GCA systems. Coordinates efforts with other technical disciplines to ensure concurrence. Assist with operational support, administration, installation, archives, disaster recovery, and maintenance of all systems as required. Develops and executes all routine hardware and software tasks. Defines guidelines and builds recommendations and projects plans for capacity planning and required work. This position also requires the flexibility to act autonomously at times while adhering to and enforcing all departmental and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties
Design and implement complex local-and wide-area networks of GCA systems Support for Production and Development environments. Experience programming with perl, bash, or korn. Apache, ftp server setup and maintenance. Maintaining backup schedules. Systems monitoring and maintain user accounts. Keeping up to date on patches and security updates. Install and configure hardware, software, Operating Systems, and patches as required. Install and configure layered products, including but not limited to Web Server, Compilers, Middleware products. Configuration and maintenance of SAN infrastructure. Disaster recovery planning and documentation. Performs proactive assessments of existing infrastructure including but not limited to: performance trending, impact analysis, configuration and deployment standardizations and guidelines, process scheduling, preventive maintenance, and system design. Responsible for system planning and project work, maintenance and support of existing infrastructures, providing technical support to the Help Desk, customers and end-users, and archive related duties. Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. Follow departmental procedures to meet customer and client needs in an innovative and resourceful manner. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a high degree of quality and meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to manage multiple priorities / tasks. Maintains excellent communication with management and project teams regarding all aspects of their duties as it relates to their projects. Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal staff. Perform other related IT duties as assigned by management.

Experience
3-4 years of experience in network administration and server administration experience with Unix-based servers (Solaris, Red Hat preferred). 3+ years of Perl, SQL and Shell programming experience. Administration experience with Microsoft Windows clients and servers (desirable). Working knowledge of web technology (e.g. Apache, J2EE). Working knowledge of the LAN/WAN technologies. Experienced in monitoring networks utilizing common Unix system tools and enterprise backup systems. Experience in SAN configuration and maintenance VMWARE management and implementation skills a PLUS Must be proficient in problem solving techniques and time management skills with strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills, well organized, ability to prioritize and meet assigned deadlines. Thorough knowledge of personal computer/network server hardware, assorted computer peripherals - especially printers and networking equipment (switches and routers). This position requires the balance of competing priorities and the ability to make sound decisions. Ability to understand technical issues, track the progress of vendor and customer inquiries, and work through issues to resolution. Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or Technical Certification required. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / IT or related field highly preferred. 3-4 years of experience in system administration experience with Unix-based servers and general technical support.
