Responsibilities of the Systems Administrator:
Building servers and services in-line with pre-defined processes and procedures
Using Ticketing system for support and communication with application teams
Help management and maintenance of servers and services within the data center environment
Support deployment of application updates.
Support system and security related patches and software
Respond to critical issues in a timely fashion while participating in 24/7 on call rotational shift, while maintaining a certain level of availability while not on call.
Being aware of security related incidents and reacting accordingly
Monitor system availability and activity where applicable
Review system logs for unexpected entries and audit logging
Following change control procedures in relation to reviewing and installing appropriate operating system and application patches and updated
Qualifications & Experience Required of the Systems Administrator:
At least 5 years? experience in a system administration role
Ability to troubleshoot technical and / or operational issues for the following types of systems:
Windows Server 2003-2012
VMware server 4x
SAN technologies (iscsi and fiber)
Experience with powershell, batch, and shell scripting
Working knowledge of Apache
Working knowledge of IIS 6.0 and IIS 7.5
Understanding of Active Directory
Have a understanding of networking troubleshooting
Understanding of support systems, including Firewalls, Load-balancers (intermediate skill)
Understanding of the need for compliance and governance
Ability to communicate effectively to users, management, and clients and suppliers
