The Linux System Administrator will be part of a team of highly skilled, dedicated individuals who support high-volume, multi-tier Internet applications on a 24 x 7 basis as well as Development and QA environments and users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support of all aspects of the environment (hardware, OS, application software)
- Provide system administration, operational support, problem resolution, and perform hardware and software installations and maintenance as required
- Manage and maintain system and application data through its lifecycle
- Design, implementation, testing and documentation of new and old infrastructure components, services and enhancements
- Application and System health and performance monitoring including responding to production issues and capacity planning and sizing
- Troubleshooting on a hardware/OS/application level
- Work closely with Software Engineering, Vendors and the Internal team to isolate and repair problems as well as help drive the operational enhancements into the products
- Document standards, operating and technical procedures for the system(s) and acts as a technical resource to IT staff and system users
- Participate in a 24x7 On Call rotation and off-peak maintenance activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have strong experience with Unix Scripting: shell, perl, python, php or equivalent from an automation and monitoring standpoint.
- Must have the ability to identify and create tools to support every day tasks.
- Must have working knowledge of SAN and storage technologies (ie. FC, FCoE, iSCSI, Direct attached) - 3par, Netapp and Cisco SAN Switching a plus.
- Must have deep systems knowledge of x86 based Enterprise hardware and software (ie. Blade Systems â€" Cisco UCS, and Linux OS internals)
- Working knowledge of a some of the following technologies and the like: openldap, IPA, nfs, ntp, dns, postfix/sendmail, kickstart/cobbler, dhcp, pxe boot, yum, subversion, puppet, lvs, clustering (redhat), server virtualization (xen, kvm, rhev, and vmware), lvm, multipathing, and interface bonding
- Working knowledge of Jboss, ruby on rails, apache, and tomcat administration
- Magento experience is a plus
- A strong grasp of building and maintaining infrastructure in the “cloud†- a plus
- Security and System / Network Hardening and best practices knowledge - a plus
- Experience with monitoring and analysis systems (ie. Nagios, ganglia, solar winds, splunk, etc…).
- Experience administering large busy mysql servers and clusters
- Experience managing infrastructure for enterprise backups a plus
- Strong written and verbal skills required
- Ability to work with a geographically diverse group of technically skilled individuals and drive projects from inception to completion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years of RedHat Enterprise Linux System Administration
- 2+ years of Networking (Cisco) Administration (Nexus Switches, Firewalls, Routers, & Load balancers) a plus
- Must have 3 years of recent experience in a Production Support environment.
- BS in a technical discipline or equivalent
