Requirements
Experience with Linux/UNIX system administration
Solid understanding of fundamental protocols and technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS
Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, CFEngine), monitoring (Nagios), trending (Ganglia), network design, and backups
Strong scripting skills in any common scripting language available on Linux. Yelp is a Python shop, but we try to treat all Turing Complete languages equally
Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery
Excellent communication skills
A sense of humor!
Pluses
Advanced knowledge of network design, management of Cisco network equipment, or BGP
Knowledge of C and kernel internals
Experience at a large-scale consumer internet site
CentOS and Ubuntu distribution familiarity, deb, and rpm software packaging
Experience with cloud services like AWS
