The Systems Administrator role is responsible for the successful scaling of our infrastructure. We use a combination of colo, public cloud, private cloud, and CDN resources to deliver our services. Our challenge is to provide fast, predictable service to smartphone users worldwide.Responsibilities
Configure and manage our cloud based infrastructure
AWS, EC2 and Rightscale
node.js, apache, redis, mongodb, memcached, Haproxy
bash, python, rightscripts
Expand and manage our Ubuntu-based hosting clusters
nginx, Cassandra, MySQL, Memcached, Redis, Resque.
RoR, node.js
Develop and improve tools to monitor, secure, and deploy our infrastructure on both our hosting clusters and on a variety of public and private cloud infrastructures
Nagios, Munin, MRTG, NewRelic
Puppet
Support our rapidly expanding analytics services based on Hadoop and HBase.
Rotating pager duty for critical systems support
Requirements
Deep knowledge of Ubuntu or similar Linux distro
Hands-on experience supporting/managing complete web stack.
Experience with developing tools for monitoring, managing, securing, and deploying systems and applications.
(BONUS) Experience with deploying and managing AWS, Rackspace, and Rightscale
Other Desirable Attributes
BSCS or equivalent degree
Participation in Open Source tools development, especially in the DevOps space
Fluency in Japanese
Excellent teamwork skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle multiple tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfort working under tight deadlines
Appreciation for being part of a fast-paced startup environment
Strong time management skills?the ability to balance high quality work standards against time constraints
