DSC is rapidly growing and we have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer at our Chantilly, VA location. Qualified candidates must be able to work well in a small company atmosphere and have excellent communication skills.
The role of the Systems Engineer is to support the technical aspects of the product life cycle, from customer interfacing and requirements gathering through system delivery and test.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with a front-end business and technical team to capture, understand, and document customer requirements. This includes up to 25% overseas travel.
Perform analytical analysis and solution tradeoffs, including buy/build analysis and competitive analysis
Support proposal efforts
Develop system requirement specifications with a cross-functional team
Review hardware and software designs for completeness
Interface with product management and engineering teams to develop and review Product Descriptions
Interface with test teams to develop and review DVT and SAT test procedures and test plans
Bachelors in Computer Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
Exhibits a high level of attention to detail
At least 10 years? experience in systems engineering and product delivery
Proficiency in one or more software languages, such as C/C++, Java, Python
Competent analytic and working knowledge of various engineering disciplines, including:
o Software (Client/Server, SOA, Java/J2EE, .NET/Silverlight/WPF)
o Networking, OSI
o OS: Linux and Windows
Understanding of both hardware and software systems, and how they interoperate.
Efficient and productive with Microsoft Office tools (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Project)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with biometric systems (including modalities, performance, and architectures)
Experience with one or more of the following:
o UI Design - e.g. use cases, information architecture, wireframes, usability, graphic design
o Client/Server architecture, UML modeling
o High Availability design ? redundancy, fault tolerance, 99.999%,
o DB/SAN architectures, including replication, sizing, BW requirements
o WAN Architectures (VPN load balancing, provisioning, MPLS, FCoE)
o JBoss and Websphere
o Solution customization and installation
o Data migration processes and tools
Ability to travel overseas up to 50% over a 4-6 month period.
Master?s Degree in CS or EE
Ability to frequently sit, and reach within hands and arm?s length.
Regularly required to use office equipment such as PC, printer, telephone, etc.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.
