Systems Engineer Solarflare Communications
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Solarflare is establishing a performance measurement and analysis capability at its Irvine office. Initially hiring one person to lead the establishment of a performance measurement lab. The role will include liaison with our existing system engineering team which is based in Cambridge to first replicate our in house performance testing methodology and systems in the Irvine office, then collaboratively to expand on our performance measurement and analysis tools company wide.
The specific tasks to be assigned to the Irvine based performance lab include:
Competitive performance testing of Solarflare products over a suite of industry standard benchmarks, server and network configurations.
Publication of validated performance data and liaison with Solarflare marketing to produce whitepapers and other external collateral.
Providing feedback to Solarflare core development teams on performance related observations.
Participation in large scale application level benchmarking e.g SPEC / STAC / Hadoop projects. In most cases this will require project coordination and use of remote infra-structure.
Development tasks relating to Solarflare authored benchmark suite and Solarflare automated environments.
Desired Skills & Experience:
The candidate will report to the CTO of Solarflare and should possess some or all of the following attributes:
Degree (preferably higher) with strong numeric / experimental background - science, math, engineering
Logical thinking, clear concise documentation and reporting skills, good verbal communication skills
Familiar with network and system administration
Experience with Linux, VMWare, KVM, Windows, Solaris operating systems
Coding skills: C/Python/C++/Java
Experience in performance tuning and benchmarking
All candidates should be self-starting, prepared to show initiative and enjoy working in a fast paced environment where performance is always critical.
