Summary
Assist and serve as a point person for the development of our Integrated Flight Displays (IFD?S), flight controls, and surveillance products. This position demands a high energy, self motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and coordinating within Avidyne as well as with customers and suppliers to achieve results.
Responsibilities:
For those products within your assigned portfolio:
Be responsible for specifying the capability, appearance, behavior, performance and means of system integration for Avidyne?s existing and future products.
Serve as significant contributor to the development team and verification teams for these systems.
The development effort will include all phases of a formal software and hardware development lifecycle as required under RTCA DO-178B and DO-160 including software requirements development; software design documentation; and software verification procedure development, execution, and reporting as well as other verification means such as lab-based integration and human factors testing and flight test.
Participate in DO-178B mandated reviews of designs, tests and implementations.
Design and specify integration mechanisms to best harness the capabilities that come from improved integration of Avidyne?s product suite as well as Avidyne?s integration with other 3rd party offerings.
Design user interfaces and behavior of Avidyne products and flight applications.
Write system and software requirements for our products.
Write and run software test cases and procedures.
Assist in creation and review of FAA TSO submission documents.
Develop tools for automating testing of our displays.
Help streamline Avidyne?s development processes.
Perform analysis and simulations related to new product features.
Become subject area expert on one or more of Avidyne?s applications and/or sub-systems.
Qualifications:
BS in an engineering discipline and 5-8 years of experience... or...
MS in an engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience.
Previous Systems Engineering experience.
General aviation industry experience
Highly Desired Experience:
Avionics or aviation background and a passion for improving flight safety.
Formal background in Systems Engineering.
Knowledge of system and software development within a structured development environment (examples include DO-178B, DO-254, MIL STD 2167A, DOD498)
At least working knowledge of C and C++ software development.
Broad base of experience relating to a variety of engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, RF, FPGA, software, etc).
A successful track record in the development of avionics or glass flight decks.
Pilot's license.
Experience with DOORS Requirements Management software Perforce configuration management software.
Familiarity with FAA TSO, STC, TC processes.
Familiarity with DO-160 environmental qualification testing to include HIRF and lightning indirect effects.
Working knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 software and complex electronic hardware assurance processes.
Knowledge of, or experience with, surveillance technologies such as ADS-B, Mode A/C/S transponders, TAS, and TCAS.
