AddThis runs a sophisticated, large-scale infrastructure that is touched by more than a billion end users and more than 14 million domains each month. We are looking for a System Engineer to bring a full-stack perspective to the entire engineering organization and lead automation, configuration, monitoring, and process improvements. That?s everything from configuration management, to service orchestration, to data visualization, to development workflow. Even better: empower people with process and tools to do all of those.Primary Responsibilities
Turn our infrastructure into code.
If it moves, graph it.
Find technical barriers to how often we deploy. Remove them.
Improve development, testing, and operations workflows.
Solve complex problems at the intersection of application, kernel, and user space.
Skills & Experience
3+ years of real industry experience and a love for problem solving. You breathe Web Operations.
Know your way around administrating RPM based Linux distributions (we tend to use CentOS)
Expertise with configuration management in a large scale environment
Fluent in Python/Ruby or other scripting languages.
Able to write killer bash scripts, and the wisdom to know when that?s not the right solution.
A solid understanding of the web?s fundamentals including TCP/IP and HTTP
Able to make convincing technical arguments backed by empirical evidence.
Proven ability to work well in team environment
Experience with light-weight, lean, or Agile development methodologies is desired
Experience with databases (MySQL, Cassandra, HBase)
Experience with installation and configuration of Tomcat, HAProxy, Memcached, Hadoop, is a plus
