The Systems Engineer is responsible for analyzing and resolving problems associated with server hardware, technical infrastructure, and applications software. Additionally, the Systems Engineer is also responsible for detecting, diagnosing, and resolving problems on servers (physical/virtual) and enterprise storage systems. This position performs software/hardware maintenance and provides operational support of Linux/Windows server systems. Other key responsibilities of a Systems Engineer include researching and planning technology improvements, disaster recovery planning, and providing consulting services for ENA?s customers.
This position requires intermediate hands-on experience (2 ? 4 years) supporting Open Source Linux (Redhat Enterprise Linux based) servers and applications including security updates, performance monitoring, design, and implementation. Foundational knowledge of the OSI Application Model, the TCP/IP stack, and basic Internet protocols such as SMTP, DNS, and HTTP is required. Experience with some or all of the following applications is required: BIND, content filtering servers/services, Apache, Zimbra, Postfix, MailScanner, SpamAssassin, MySQL, Nagios, Cricket, Rancid, SNMP, LDAP, PHP, Perl, bash and shell scripting. Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies, SAN technologies (Fiber & ISCSI connectivity), and SQL is required.
Preferred candidates will additionally possess intermediate (2-4 years) hands-on experience supporting Windows Server, IIS, and MS SQL environments. Experience maintaining a centralized web filtering system with basic knowledge of general website design is preferred. Basic knowledge of Cisco IOS and routing is preferred. Experience working in an ISP environment is preferred. Certification in Red Hat Linux and/or Windows Server is a plus. Prior experience managing a corporate Windows environment, and/or Microsoft SQL Clustering is a plus.
