Position Summary: The Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling employees.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Maintain computing environment by identifying system requirements; installing upgrades and monitoring system performance.
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Provide Tier II level support. Monitor work orders or "ticket" status ensuring work assignments are completed to end user satisfaction
Education / Experience Requirements
Bachelor?s degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
5+ years direct related Networked PC Support and/or Technical Help Desk experience in a Microsoft 200+ user, multi-platform environment.
Ability to perform typical PC, Mac and Help Desk support, including desktop computer configuration and upgrades and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, including file and print sharing, desktop policies, profiles, communication protocols, remove and replace components, troubleshoot system operational errors and request tracking.
Strong working experience with Wireless, Dell Kace, DHCP, Symantec Ghost, Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition.
Ability to analyze corporate needs for hardware and software systems and recommend appropriate system solutions to meet business requirements.

Strong working experience with wide variety of hardware and desktop operating systems, including Dell hardware (servers, storage, workstations, laptops), Cisco hardware (routers, switches, firewalls and wireless) Apple hardware (Macs and iOS devices), VMware Virtualization software, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft Office 2010 products, SharePoint 2010 and Windows Operating Systems.
