Systems Engineer Skytap
Skytap is looking for talented Systems Engineer to join our platform team. Cloud computing is one of today's hottest technologies, and Skytap is leading the way by providing self-service virtual data centers in just a few clicks. The Systems Engineer at Skytap is responsible for supporting Skytap's customers in the adoption of the Skytap Cloud and its technologies. This is a critical role at Skytap, one that consists of both a post and pre-sales support. As a member of our platform team, you will be responsible in driving customer enablement, and in the creation of the necessary tools to facilitate customer success.Job Responsibilities:
- Be a subject matter expert in Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems
- Assist customers with building multi-tier and other complex environments in the Skytap Cloud
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure customer success and satisfaction
- Assist Skytap Cloud Solution Architects in supporting customer Proof of Concepts
- Provide front-line customer support via email, Webex, and on-site visits
- Understand Virtualization, and how it can be used to address end-user challenges
- Write technical white papers and solutions guides
- Demonstrate Skytap's offering in front of customers, and deliver our value proposition via product demonstrations, powerpoint, and white-board presentations
- Develop strong relationships with customers, ensuring that good account management practices are being followed between sales
- Participate in both remote and local customer Proof of Concepts
- Perform account discovery and assist the sales team in need analysis
- Work with product management and engineering on new product requirements and design
- Potential for limited travel (within US)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Extensive exposure and mastery of Windows Desktop / Server and Linux Operating systems
- Mac OS X desktop and application experience
- Understanding of application-level networking (Layer 3 and above)
- BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field
- 5+ years in working with Windows Server and/or Linux server environments
- 2+ years experience in post-sales, support, or pre-sales role
- Experience using VMware or other virtualization technologies
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Can multi-task well, excellent project planning and time management skills
- Off hours on/call work required each month.
