The Systems Layout Engineer will be responsible for:
Collaborating with Kiva's software, hardware, system design, and implementation organizations to architect a fully-optimized Kiva robotic system
Producing highly detailed physical designs of the Kiva system layout for field implementation
Understanding and applying complicated software and algorithmic rules to create systems with highly optimized robot traffic patterns, considering robotic navigation and interaction
Asking the right questions of system design team counterparts and Kiva clients to optimize a Kiva system's storage density, system economics, and operational efficiency
Supporting internal customers in improving system performance and diagnosing performance issues, clearly communicating as a critical part of cross-functional teams
Presenting to (and interacting with) clients and third-party vendors to collaborate on designs
Visiting active Kiva sites to prepare for and validate design assumptions
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools and object-oriented software development
Comfort with conceiving and executing complicated designs driven by advanced technology including software, hardware and robotics
Relentless attention to details; capability to meticulously follow complicated procedures
