DSC is rapidly growing, and we have an opening for a Systems Engineer. Qualified candidates must be able to work well in a small company atmosphere and have excellent communication skills.
The System Test Engineer - Manufacturing will become a product expert, interacting directly with both manufacturing personnel and design engineers in order to ensure that DSC?s system product builds are successful. The STE will complete the verification of systems, carry out necessary performance optimization, and troubleshoot as required to advance systems to final quality review and customer shipment. The STE is also responsible for providing feedback and design modification recommendations to Product Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Become a systems expert on DSC products and software tools
Contribute to the development and implementation of manufacturing functional tests and systems that maximize test coverage and correlate well with customer usage needs.
Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation of results.
Isolate system issues to their root cause and support their resolution.
Validate system operations.
Identify functional problems, recommend solutions, and assist in the definition of internal quality control standards.
Present (written and verbal) technical findings and justification for recommended hardware/ software changes to assist with system optimization.
Maintain test data for mining. Document and present performance findings as required.
Process control development and implementation. Software functional requirements development.
Provide general technical support to our manufacturing group.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
A BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related subject and minimum of 3 years related experience.
Computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows Server environment
Ability to utilize various operator interface devices and programming, networks
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics, fabrication and assembly drawings.
Ability to utilize various test instruments (volt meters, oscilloscopes, optical power meters, etc.)
Experience working in a fast paced, constantly expanding and changing environment
Must be willing to work extra hours as needed to meet business goals.
Good organization, multi-tasking, communication, time management and documentation skills
DSC product designs include a variety of complex and advanced technologies including Lasers, sensors, cameras, fiber optics, electronics, and software; therefore knowledge & experience within those fields, along with the ability to grasp the functionality requirements for our advanced products, is required.
3-5 years related field service experience with electro-optic, camera, or biometric systems
Experience with Python software tools
Familiarity with LabView
Experience with LIDAR technologies
Experienced in test process evaluation and development along with DFT and DFM principles.
Knowledgeable in configuration management tools and advanced ERP systems.
Knowledge of computer interface protocols.
Experience and knowledge of new product introduction cycles.
Strong statistical and analytical skills.
Experience and knowledge of surface mount technologies.
Kaizen event experience.
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 30 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.
Ability to reach within hands and arm?s length, climb or balance, and crouch.
Individual?s primary workstation is located in an office area with ability to frequently work in a manufacturing/lab environment.
The noise level in this environment is low/moderate.
