Tax Analyst Palo Alto Networks

Palo Alto Networks is looking for a full time Tax Analyst. This person will be reporting to the Senior Tax Manager.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of US corporate and indirect tax with some knowledge of international taxation would be a plus
- Responsible for maintaining and updating the Avalara sales tax engine in Netsuite including but not limited to maintaining Nexus states, reseller resale exemption certificates, Tax codes for new product SKUs, data mining in both systems to generate the data required by outside third party to prepare multi state sales tax returns. This may include working with applicable personnel to understand, address and correct any issues in using Avalara and re-train where appropriate
- Develop, maintain and continually improve data collection processes for preparation of worldwide corporate income tax provision, sales and use tax, VAT tax, R&D tax credit, NOL, WaterEdge Election, Transfer pricing study, Nexus study etc.
- Prepare month end account reconciliation of various tax related GL accounts
- Maintain the international withholding tax schedules
- Responsible for annual filing of personal property tax returns including reconciliation of county property tax assessments to tax workpapers
- Prepares schedules in response to audit requests
- Assist with state and local tax audit, tax inquiries
- Manage all domestic sales & use taxes, property taxes, and other non-income tax reporting, and assist with coordinating value added taxes with external service providers.
- Assist in the review of quarterly tax provision from international entities
- Prepare and/or assist with financial statement disclosures related to income taxes
- Assist in the implementation of tax reporting, tax compliance and tax accounting policies
- Assist in research and execution of tax strategies, participate in various tax planning ideas
- Assist in evaluating the impact of statutory and regulatory changes to federal, state and local tax laws on the company
- Participate in US and international tax process optimization, develop and implement procedural changes and/or processes to improve the tax function and meet Sox certification
- Research various income, franchise, sales and use, payroll and property tax issues
- Assist with international legal entity formation and research thereof
- Assist in project work that may include review and updates of processes and/or systems
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of SOX 404 tax cycle business controls and procedures
- Other ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years, 4-6 years tax experience in Big 4 accounting firm in conjunction with 4-6 years' experience in a tax department of a multi-national corporation
- CPA and/or Master in Tax required
- Basic knowledge and understanding the application of multi-states sales/use tax in a wholesale/retail environment required (1+ years)
- Proficiency in sales tax softwares like Avalara, Sabrix, Vertex is preferred
- Experience with NetSuite and any tier 1 ERP system is highly desirable
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Tax research skills
- Application and project management skills
- Understanding of process flows of data into the general ledger for reporting
- Ability to eliminate manual functions and redundancy
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of personnel, across functions, organizations and with external contacts
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with vendors and other employees
- Ability to function as a team player
- Exceptional multitasking abilities, upbeat demeanor, and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
