Technical Marketing Engineer Silver Spring Networks

You will work with the director of product marketing to lead competitive analysis and market the technical advantages of Silver Spring? industry-leading smart grid platform. You will be expected to work closely with product management and sales teams to create key competitive documents, technical sales materials, technical whitepapers and presentations, and technical demos for use at headquarters and trade shows. In addition to training internal teams, such as technical sales, you will also help train partners and other Silver Spring advocates on the technical capabilities of the Silver Spring platform. The role requires someone with excellent communications skills, a passion for technical analysis, and keen insights into competitive positioning.
The technical marketing engineer:
Defines competitive positioning of Silver Spring?s technology, in collaboration with product management, product marketing, and sales
Tracks technical capabilities of competing solutions, keeping documents and presentations up to date
Creates effective sales tools that convey our technical advantages, including technical presentations and technical whitepapers
Defines compelling technical showcases of our solutions, for demos and trade shows
Continually seeks input from Sales on effectiveness of existing materials and areas where new materials are needed
Trains internal and external stakeholders on the technical advantages of the Silver Spring network and back-office software
Good understanding of networking technology essential ? wireless, security a strong plus
Excellent interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills
Comfortable in a dynamic, intense environment
Hands-on style, delivering materials quickly and efficiently
Able to be productive in a lean operating environment with minimal support
Minimum of four to six years in technical role ? preferably some time in marketing
Background in computer networking
Substantial hands-on experience in delivering competitive analysis and technical sales tools
BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or other technical field
