About the Technical Operations Engineer position:
Skybox is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to streamline our build, deployment and production systems using automation. We are architecting large-scale distributed systems to store and process petabytes of satellite imagery data from the constellation of spacecraft we are are building right here in Mountain View! You will be primarily responsible for the platform on which we fly our spacecraft ? here in our Mission Operations Center ? and to our customers around the world!
You are deeply technical, well versed in agile software development as well as experience operating a mission critical production environment at large scale. You?re comfortable and confident working with all business units, and hold your own with smart, opinionated people.
Skills and Experience:
Java tool chain experience on Linux, including ant, maven, jenkins/hudson, etc.
Extensive VCS/SVN experience ? including best practices on using VCS to manage large software projects
Linux Platform management on Debian/Ubuntu including packaging, distribution, deployment, repository management, and integration with build tool chain
Expert software configuration management (SCM) skills including compilation, packaging, templating, change control, puppet/chef automation, tool analysis and selection
Architecting and authoring of SCM program components, as applicable
Excellent communication skills, service-oriented attitude, self motivated, ability to mentor and train others
