The Technical Program Manager leads the detailed definition and delivery of Ensequence software products and services, assuring the successful execution of the company?s business strategy and product roadmap. This role functions within an Agile development process and involves a mix of traditional product management, business analysis, requirements authoring, product lifecycle management and technical program management. The Technical Program Manager will serve as Product Owner for individual development projects (software components), representing the customer, business stakeholders and product vision within the development process. He/She is deeply involved with the development team in the nuts-and-bolts decision making process on a daily basis. The Technical Program Manager also coordinates the work of multiple internal and external development teams to deliver complex interactive television solutions for multiple distribution platforms (Cable, Satellite, Smart TV, etc.)
Distills high-level product vision and requirements into deliverable user stories with complete acceptance criteria.
Leads authoring, estimation, and maintenance of the product backlog to deliver strongest ROI for Ensequence.
Serves as voice of the customer and product marketing in daily development decisions that impact functionality and usability.
Leads resolution of issues that arise between marketing?s desired feature set and practicalities of development, resources, or project timeline.
Agile Development Leadership
Leads ongoing prioritization of the product backlog based on customer feedback, market changes and business priorities
Establishes and adjusts project schedules and an iterative product release strategy based upon project timelines, business goals and market data.
Actively manages internal and external business stakeholders to ensure team focus and efficient development progress.
Together with the Scrum Master, leads sprint team planning, reviews/demos and retrospectives.
Accepts or rejects development team work during each sprint cycle based upon user stories and acceptance criteria, working closely with the team throughout the sprint to ensure acceptance by Sprint Review.
Translate program objectives to integrated plans, schedules and budgets for the entire life cycle.
Establish tracking and roll-up of project milestones and metrics for program level status reporting.
Effectively lead a team to meet project and program milestones (without managing the people).
Manage and direct external customer program and project communications, with sensitivity to customer perceptions.
Internal stakeholder management, including coordination of departmental or cross-functional/cross-organizational teams as well as communication within the organization at all levels
Develop and execute risk management plans.
Key Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Technical undergraduate degree (e.g. Engineering or Computer Science) plus at least 5 years of directly related work experience in a Software, Systems or Online Services company OR non-technical undergraduate degree plus 10+ years of directly related work experience.
Direct experience as a Product Owner in an Agile/Scrum development environment strongly preferred.
A proven track record of leading the requirements and delivery of software products and service offerings.
Strong team-building experience with experience and skill in managing in a matrix organization with dependencies on other functional groups.
Experience leading and working with Agile teams
Strong, demonstrable user experience focus and extensive experience working with UI teams to develop intuitive human-computer interfaces.
Ability to build trust across groups of technology & business associates to gather information and deliver projects.
Ability to both look outward, understanding the end customer needs, and look inward, managing the value stream that transforms the customer needs into requirements that delivers software ready to be used by the customer.
Experience working closely with development teams in understanding and analyzing business requirements.
Proven ability to work closely with the business and translate business needs into requirement specifications.
