Technical Support Specialist Packet Design, Inc.
Packet Design is looking for a talented, energetic and professional individual with a strong interest in network performance management. The candidate will be given the chance to work with some of the largest enterprise networks in the world. The ideal candidate will have a preference for teamwork, and for playing an important role in a fast-paced small business environment where employees take ownership.
Provide hardware and software installation, configuration and support to ensure proper performance of Packet Design products and service offerings. Install hardware and software remotely or at client locations. Ensure remote access capability for advanced troubleshooting.
Develop and implement migrations and pre-release tests. Communicate trend information to management. Recommend possible product enhancements to the software engineering team.
Required Experience and Skills
An awareness and understanding of computer networking/routing protocols, and a desire to expand that knowledge
Interest in and ability to analyze data from multiple sources
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to client sites, when needed
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work constructively with a team, but also independently
Previous support-related troubleshooting experience is preferred
Experience with Perl, Java and other scripting technologies as well as MySQL is desirable
Experience with Linux/CentOS and Cisco IOS, JunOS or other network router operating systems is a plus
4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
