Job Summary
The Technical Writer will be responsible for organizing, interpreting, writing, and editing technical documentation. This position is located in Fargo, ND.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for drafting technical documentation, including release notes, system documentation, user manuals, online help, and other
associated technical product documentation.
Gathers product information from various sources (business specifications, product specifications, project meetings, interviews) and translates the
information into system and end-user documentation.
Coordinates documentation reviews with various departments.
Participates in functional reviews and design meetings.
Prepares training materials and conducts training classes.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
5 years technical writing, or associated relevant experience
Bachelors degree in English, technical communication, or relevant field
Working knowledge of current versions of MS Office, Adobe FrameMaker, and Robohelp.
Working knowledge of online help creation
Familiar with a variety of the Technical Writing fields concepts, practices, and procedures
Demonstrates exemplary skills in writing and editing for clarity, organization, grammar, spelling, consistency, and presentation.
Relies on work experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals within the designated timeframes.
Demonstrates self initiative.
Works under minimal supervision to complete assigned documentation projects. (A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.)
Ability to follow technical writing and editing standards and perform to those standards.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
Ability to work well under deadlines.
Works well in a team environment with a variety of people.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills as required.
