The Job:
AvePoint is seeking a full-time Technical Writer capable of performing well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A successful candidate must be capable of learning detailed, technical issues by collaborating with a number of teams during the product development process. The technical writer will work closely with the Technical Support, Project Management, and Product Development teams in order to learn new functionality and issues. He/She must also successfully communicate new developments and issues to our customers and internal teams. The technical writer is responsible for:
- Compiling new information into user guide
- Reviewing release notes for publication
- Collaborate with multiple internal teams to develop supplemental documentation
- Maintaining our public Knowledge Base by collaborating with the Support Team
The candidate for this position must also be capable of initiating their own projects and be willing to take on additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree (Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical majors preferred, but not required)
- Strong background in writing with excellent editing and proofreading skills
- 2 to 3 years of experience of technical support and/or documentation
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects to meet rigorous deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010, especially Microsoft Word for direct publication
Knowledge in the following areas is a plus:
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Structured Authoring with Adobe Framemaker 10+ and RoboHelp
- Structured documents using XML including using third party Schemas, DITA, and publishing with XHTML or XSLT is a plus
