Objective of Position:
Cloudmark is seeking a Technical Writer to craft a wide range of documentation; from highly technical SDK guides intended for application developers to clear and simple online help intended for home users. This role requires interfacing with various teams in order to plan for and solicit feedback on a variety of documentation-related projects.
Act as a product expert. Work with engineering, test, product management, external beta test participants, OEM partner application developers, and field technical sales to gather information about new and updated products, set priorities and milestones, conduct iterative review cycles, and publish documentation on time for each release.
Write, format, and maintain technical documentation for delivery to Cloudmark's customers, including messaging system administrators, operations personnel, application developers, and consumers.
Participate in UI design reviews with the goal of maximizing product usability.
Partner with technical support staff to monitor customer responses and modify the documentation as needed to minimize required support resources.
Partner with marketing staff to update product datasheets and Web content.
At least five years of technical writing or similar experience
Experience writing for audiences at varying levels of technical proficiency
Experience writing for both print and online media
Intermediate to expert level ability to use the following tools and formats (in order of most desirable to least desirable):
oXygen XML Editor
Adobe Illustrator or similar vector image authoring tools
Adobe Photoshop or similar raster image authoring tools
Adobe Acrobat Pro and Distiller
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Experience documenting C/C++ and REST APIs
Experience documenting GUI-driven products
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with various internet standards devised within the IETF organization (DNS, SMTP, HTTP, SIP, MSRP, etc.)
User-level UNIX skills, Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Debian-based operating systems preferred
Familiarity with fixed line or mobile messaging technology, spam, phishing, and viruses
BS/BA in English, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience writing software documentation for a technical audience
