Position
AtHoc is expanding into new markets and is looking for a seasoned Technical Writer who has kept up with the latest authoring tools. The right candidate will possess the required skillset and be an energetic person with passion and innate drive to excel at any task. As is typical with start-ups, this role goes beyond a traditional function ? the person must have the ability to act independently in an unstructured environment, operate proactively and have a passion/appreciation for the vision and mission of the company.
Responsibilities
Fulfill role as both a dedicated member of a company-wide documentation team and an integrated, co-located member of an engineering team that uses an "agile" methodology
Document new features and maintain current documentation set
Work closely with engineering team members on a daily basis to provide design feedback and user interface text and documentation
Plan and track own work assignments and deliver assignments on schedule.
Requirements
U.S. Permanent Residency or Citizenship a must
At least five years? experience writing technical documentation for enterprise applications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, or a related field
At least five years of technical writing or other relevant experience. Support experience a plus.
Intermediate to advanced Flare or other comparable technical writing tools skills
Basic understanding of HTML and XML
Ability to use your technical aptitude to learn new features, products, and solutions quickly
Experience writing for a multitude of audiences ? end users, administrators, system integrators, business managers, support and services organizations, partners and resellers.
Clear writing style and superb content organization skills.
Comfortable working with developers to advocate for the user experience and know how to represent documentation requirements during product design and implementation.
Strong command of English grammar and are able to self-edit.
Ability to manage writing tasks for multiple, overlapping product releases and deliver on schedule without compromising quality.
Experience working on DITA framework strongly desired.
