Technical Writer/Trainer Newgistics

The Technical Writer/Trainer manages the creation and delivery of training materials for processes, products and services offered as part of Newgistics' solutions. He/She is responsible for all aspects of the content development process including information gathering, writing, and content reviews and approvals. He/She is also responsible for providing formal and informal training to key stakeholders, both internal and external, as required by the business. In addition, The Technical Writer/Training will help to identify gaps between usage and capabilities of the systems that can be closed through proper training and education and will partner with the Director of Product to remedy these gaps.
--Writing documentation for new business concepts (in close consultation with Product Management & the Development Teams)
--Describing application installation, configuration, data imports/exports and usage
--Proof-reading and editing content for usability and readability
--Ensuring that the documentation is of high quality and adheres to standards and guidelines
--Creating system documentation
--Acquiring in-depth knowledge of Newgistics' solutions, network, and user needs
--Developing high-quality user-facing content, including customized setup guides, online help, and product update bulletins
--Developing high-quality internal content, including business process documentation, templates, and forms
--Collaborating with technical teams and project leaders to identify content needs and move content through the review and approval process
--Implementing standards for customer-facing and internal content
--Participating in the implementation of new technologies to improve content development, management, and delivery
--Managing a concise and consistently messaged Product & Sales communication toolkit
--Providing new hire training for existing sales force, account managers on products & services - e-commerce platforms, OMS, Fulfillment or Parcel Solutions
--Providing ongoing training for new products/services, enhancements and messaging refinement
--Providing initial and ongoing training to customers for Newgistics' e-commerce applications
--Maintaining up- to- date modules, lesson plans, elearning courses for all technology training required
--Interacting with Product Management, Sales Management and Account Management to better understand the needs of the customers in their use of e-commerce technology. This may include ride-alongs with Product Management and Account Management in the field.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Y or N?
--Minimum 4 years' technical writing or related experience (writing samples will be required)
--Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field
--Superior oral and written communication skills, including editing/proofreading
--The ability to express complex technical information in a clear and precise manner
--Design skills is a plus
--Outstanding communication, writing, and grammar skills
--Enthusiastic team player with excellent interpersonal skills
--Ability to produce quality deliverables in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
--Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Powerpoint, Word and Visio), and Adobe Acrobat
--Experience using Snag-it or other screen capture software
--The ability to work to tight deadlines, deliver on time, and ensure high quality
--Flexibility and a readiness to communicate with other team members and to participate in knowledge transfer
--A willingness to acquire extensive product knowledge and learn new skills at short notice
--Excellent organizational skills
