Job Description :
Network Engineering is responsible for the evolution and architecture of Megapath nationwide broadband network. This includes selection of network elements and protocols, certification of new technologies, and development of new services in collaboration with internal departments and external vendors.
This position is reporting directly to the Director of Technology & Architecture.
The Core Network Engineering team encompasses a broad scope of technologies and services. Areas of responsibilities include evolving Megapath?s carrier-grade IP/ MPLS, Ethernet, DSL, and VAS network. The candidate will be expected provide leadership to a senior engineering team of subject matter experts. The candidate is expected to cultivate a culture of excellence within the team and act as a liaison between the Core Network Engineering team and other organizations within Megapath.
Responsibilities:
Be the subject matter expert or have prior implementation experience of IP/MPLS, Ethernet, DSL, and Managed services paradigms to drive testing and qualification (hands-on participation in testing and qualification).
Lead, develop, and optimize the network architecture to develop new services and solutions based on business requirements.
Provide oversight of network standards and procedures as it pertains to network architectures and best practices implementations.
Work with IP Engineering and Transport Planning for implementation and deployment of new network services and technologies.
Collaborate with cross-organizational teams (Product, Marketing, Customer Operations, ITS, and Sales) to set strategic direction of core network technologies.
Work closely with software development teams to define requirements for automation and support tools.
Manage and support timelines, budgets, and resources with associated team projects.
Provide technical support and training to Megapath network operations teams.
Own the technical relationship with equipment vendor(s), ensuring Megapaths interests are represented in future software and hardware.
Create a pipeline of new senior engineers through mentorship and career development of junior and mid-level network engineers.
Job Requirements :
It is expected that the candidate will be a subject matter expert in the following areas:
IP/MPLS Routing and Ethernet Switching: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, 802.1ad, 802.1d
DSL: VDSL2, ADSL2+, MIMO, DMT, Vectoring, EFM, ADSL, SDSL, IDSL, etc.
Additionally, the candidate will have:
Direct experience in large-scale enterprise / service provider network design
Theoretical and practical application of protocols
Understanding of network element and protocol certification methodologies, including knowledge of qualification tools such as IXIA and Spirent
Direct hands-on experience preferred with Cisco (ASR9000, 7600, 15454), Redback Smart Edge, and Juniper (MX480, M20).
Understanding of IP, MPLS, Managed Security, UTM, and Cloud Computing
Experience with DSL (legacy and NGN) Technologies and outside plant (Copper) is a big plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven project management skills
Demonstrated ability and desire to excel in a collaborative environment.
Prior work experience with a distributed team.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in CSC, CPE, MIS, EE, or related Network Engineering field with 10 years of experience.
