Job DescriptionOVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Technology Business Analyst role supports the technology/software development project process by performing the following activities under the general oversight of a Technology/Software Project Manager: gathering, analyzing and documenting requirements according to the needs of stakeholders; communicating these requirements to the software product development team; and closely following the development, testing and implementation process according to a defined project management process to help ensure a quality software product which fully meets the business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the technology/software development project process through analysis, requirements gathering and activity/task coordination
Assist the technology/software project manager in all aspects of the software development life cycle
Document systems/software requirements in the form of detailed specifications, workflow/process diagrams and screen mock-ups
Follow a structured and organized project methodology with the leadership of a technology project manager
Assist in communicating product requirements to the software development team and closely follow the development process, helping to ensure the development team maintains a clear understanding of the short-term vision of the product
Work with the development project manager and software technical lead determine estimates and deadlines for a given a set of functionality
Help to ensure the delivery of a quality product by being involved with the testing and implementation of the product
Work with team members and stakeholders in geographically dispersed locations and time zones
Experience and Skills
Required Experience
Minimum two years hands-on experience in a business/software analysis or software project management role
Project Delivery Competence
Strong ability to consume end user and business requirements, translate them into development requirements and articulate them to technical engineers
Strong ability to communicate ideas effectively with business and client stakeholders at a variety of levels as well as with technical individuals
Ability to learn the intricacies of a new industry
Ability to coordinate resources for small projects and facilitate the tracking of projects according to a project plan
Ability to capture the essence of business requirements in screen mockups and work flow diagrams
Technology Skills & Experience
Fluent in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)
Comfortable with MS Visio for flowcharting, data flow, process & swim diagrams
Competent with user interface design and mockup tools such as MS Visio, Expression Blend Sketchflow or other
Basic understanding of software systems design and application programming
Foundational understanding of relational databases, web applications and/or other distributed application architectures
Ability to quickly become proficient as an end user of virtually any application
General/Soft Skills
Ability to communicate ideas confidently and effectively- both technical and conceptual; verbally and written
Ability to multi-task with good decision-making, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Acute attention to detail
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field
