Role
Animoto is seeking an experienced Techops Lead to own and manage the operations and internal tools team for the company. They will be responsible for keeping all Animoto consumer applications (Animoto.com, mobile apps, social network apps) running smoothly within our Amazon cloud-based architecture. Additionally, the team will manage the deployment and uptime for Animoto?s partner API platform, which serves dozens of top consumer internet brands with Animoto web service technologies.
We are looking for an expert in operations to teach us how to do things right. The Lead will bring years of experience in a variety operational disciplines: monitoring, alerting, scale/performance planning, cloud deployment toolsets, code build toolsets, DB performance optimization, security, system recovery, corporate infrastructure planning, network administration, etc. The Lead will need to assemble and manage a team of system administrators, build specialists, and network operators.
Responsibilities
Responsible for 24/7 operations of www.animoto.com and platform services
Team management of multiple system administrators and engineers
Design and construction of the production deployment architecture for all Animoto built applications within the Amazon AWS environment
Responsible for capacity measurements and planning
Manage source code build environments, propagation methods, and toolsets
Guidance and vendor management for office infrastructure projects
Security assessment and enforcement within all code execution environments
Design, implement monitoring and alerting infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of operational experience in large-scale Linux-based, cloud service environment.
5+ years experience leading and building operations teams.
5+ years experience with managing database systems.
Experience maintaining/supporting consumer web services
Experience working with common application monitoring systems like Right Scale
Other desired skills
Experience using Amazon EC2 and AWS supporting a production application deployment
Perl, Python, or Ruby experience
MySQL database administration experience - i.e. managing large volumes of data, querying data for reporting
Experience in configuring and using automated build and deployment systems for web applications
Deep Linux knowledge
