The Temp Fleet position is responsible for ensuring the success and optimization of both the Zipcar Fleet and Fleet Team staff through the use of lean processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage the process of in-fleeting and de-fleeting vehicles, including Zipcar branding preparation and installation of Zipcar's proprietary access system
Manage the upkeep, maintenance, repair and cleanliness of the market area
Manage vendor performance on weekly tasks to maximize vehicle condition and uptime and minimize costs
Manage vendor service contracts to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, repaired and cleaned to Zipcar's high standard
Work within a budget while maintaining excellent fleet condition and minimizing vehicle downtime
Perform field vehicle tasks, such as jumping dead batteries, changing tires and moving vehicles
Manage fleet operations staff
Work with the Fleet Manager or Locations Manager to acquire new parking locations in key areas
Assigns daily tasks to vendors or fleet associates, using the Fleet Board
Maximizes market through strategic car placement
Leverages established lean process concepts
Handles Fleet-related customer service issues as conveyed by Member Services, including accidents
Monitors rates and maintains relationships with car service vendors
Assists Management in identifying parking locations
Identifies big picture trends/issues and recommends solutions to expand and improve the Zipcar Fleet
Identifies issues that may impact the Zipcar community
The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and education:
Four year college degree in related field, preferred.
Must pass Zipcar driving history requirements and pre-employment background check
Prior management experience
Experience in fast-paced environment
Flexible to be on-call, as needed
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to carry collateral materials and displays

Written communication-the individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information
Planning/organizing-the individual is self-directed and prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently
Quality control-the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality
Adaptability-the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Dependability-the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance
