Job Responsibilities
DTS is seeking a tech-savvy Temporary Paralegal, Business & Legal Affairs who is experienced with technology licensing. This position requires close interaction with DTS attorneys and our licensing staff in Ireland as well as some interaction with internal corporate departments. The Paralegal assists with substantive matters handled by the Legal Department related principally to domestic and international technology licensing matters, channel relationship and intellectual property. This position will be reporting to the attorneys on the Business & Legal Affairs team of the Legal Department.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a closely knit environment together with other dedicated legal professionals on a wide variety of matters in a dynamic, hi-tech public company.
Position is full time and is expected to last approx 6 months.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
? Assist in domestic and international technology licensing matters
? Assist attorneys in developing licensing agreements
? Draft and review various types of contracts including license agreements for patents, software, trademarks, and copyrights, use terms, marketing agreements, non-disclosure agreements and vendor agreements, under the direction of one or more attorneys and in coordination with internal clients
? Advise internal clients on compliance with DTS strategy, legal policies and procedures
? Assist in the formulation and deployment of process-related improvements related to the provision of legal services
? Maintain/create filing systems and other information management techniques for legal matters
? Review/proof documents generally
Required Education and Experience
? B.A. or B.S. or equivalent education and experience
? At least 2 years solid technology licensing experience working in a corporate environment is strongly preferred
? Must have technology licensing experience
? Proficiency in Hummingbird document management system preferred
? International experience is a plus
? Self-starter who desires to show ownership and commitment to the job
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
? Outstanding organizational, analytical and drafting skills, with attention to detail
? Ability to prioritize workflow and adjust to workload fluctuations
? Ability to work independently, as well as in team situations
? Ability to communicate effectively across a large number of diverse internal groups
