Description
As part of the Assay Design Group, this individual will perform assay design and validation using standard PCR strategies. Incumbent will be required to follow SOPs, maintain laboratory inventory/equipment, keeps meticulous documentation and tracking of samples, assays, experimental design and results. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated with a strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks within defined timelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Exercise technical discretion in the design and development of genotyping, gene expression, and target enrichment by PCR for NGS. Activities span assay design by bioinformatic pipelines through wet-lab testing of received primers.
Interpret experimental results, perform data analysis, maintain records of all experiments identify and relate scientific literature to current work, prepare and present summaries of experiments and projects, and write procedures and technical reports.
Meticulous documentation and tracking of samples, assays, experimental design and results.
Education / Experience / Skills
Bachelor's degree in biological science with 2-5 years experience.
Hands-on experience with relevant sequence analysis tools, e.g., BLAST, Primer3, and a understanding of genomic databases including: RefSeq, ENSEMBL, dbSNP, UCSC Genome Browser
Working experience with gene expression, genotyping or NGS library preparation is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Good understanding of biochemistry and genetics
Exhibit technical proficiency in molecular biology enabling independent and effective execution of experiments.
Highly motivated, excellent communication and enjoy working as part of a team
Analytical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
Thorough and detail-oriented, have excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work in a high-performance environment with special emphasis on commercial product development preferred.
Customer service experience and communicating with customers in a concise manner.
