Test Cell Instrumentation Technician Achates Power
The Test Cell Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repairs, calibration and upgrading of standard and custom instrumentation in the engine test cell. The Test Cell Instrumentation Technician's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Install and wire controls, sensors, actuators, instrumentation power supplies, data acquisition and measurement equipment in the test cell.
Build, test, troubleshoot, repair and calibrate custom electronic and electro-mechanical devices.
Configure and calibrate (both hardware and software) instrumentation in the test cell.
Operate the engine test bed following a specified test plan.
Record accurately the engine test parameters.
Associate's degree (AA), Electronic Technician Certificate or completion of equivalent technical courses, plus two to three years related experience in an engineering or R&D environment
Knowledge of electronics assembly and repair techniques and equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of analog and digital circuits to the component level , in both through-hole and surface mount configurations.
Effective use of all types of electronic troubleshooting and repair equipment including: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes, signal generators, frequency counters, spectrum analyzers, through-hole and surface mount soldering equipment, crimp tools.
Experience wiring electrical systems, such as instrumentation power supplies, controls, sensors, actuators, VFDs and motors.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings and technical data sheets
Proficiency with basic Microsoft software products (Excel, Word, etc.).
Proficiency with machine tools, including drill press, band saw, sander, etc.
Proficiency with hand tools used in engine maintenance
Experience with engine or mechanical system operation and repair
Technical or trade school degree in engine repair or testing
Understanding of mechanical measurement devices and their use
Experience with engine or test cell data acquisition systems
Programming experience with LabView software
Knowledge of instruments used in measuring temperature, pressure, flow, etc.
Some knowledge of RF circuits
PCB layout experience
Meticulous attention to detail
