Responsibilities: What will I do
As a Spiceworks Tester you will be responsible for testing and verifying all areas of the Spiceworks application (including app plugins) and the Spiceworks Community. This will require you to set up and configure testing environments, write automated Watir and Ruby test scripts, track and verify software defects, analyze user feedback and identify usability issues. Youll also work with the entire development team to program various automated test scripts within the Ruby On Rails environment. And with the engineering and product teams to define new regression test cases and continually improve the quality of our software and services
Qualifications: What does it take to do this job
5+years experience as a QA engineer or related position
Knowledge of web development (Ruby, Javascript, Rails, HTML, CSS, XML, AJAX, Watir, etc)
Hands on experience creating test processes and scripts for software and web/service products
Working knowledge of SQL and relational data structures
Ability to analyze defects / test results and be able to deduct the chain of events leading to a failure
Experience translating a product definition (use-cases/stories, reqs, etc.) into test cases
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences
Acute attention to detail
Self-starting nature with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, startup environment
Experience automating testing through scripting and third party tools
Willingness and ability to adapt to testing new technologies.
